about me
Introduction
Hi, my name is Elmehdi Achahed. I am a Software Engineer based in Tangier, in the north of Morocco. Although my technical background is Full-Stack, I transitioned to strictly working as a Backend Engineer. I prefer the backend because I thrive on solving complex architectural problems that require deep critical thinking, clear communication, and the ability to explain high-level technical concepts.
Engineering Philosophy
My core philosophy in software development is pragmatic and straightforward: "Make it work first, then let's talk about performance." I believe that over-engineering systems prematurely leads to bloated codebases, longer delivery cycles, and unnecessary complexity. Instead, I focus on building clean, modular, and functional code that solves the immediate problem, and then iteratively profile and optimize the components that truly represent bottlenecks under real-world traffic.
Beyond the IDE
Outside of coding, my life revolves around sports and staying competitive. I am a long-distance runner, which helps me clear my head, and I play football regularly as a goalkeeper. Being a goalkeeper requires constant focus, split-second reflexes, and pressure management.
Gaming & Competition
I am an inherently competitive person, which carries over into my downtime. I spend a lot of time playing competitive multiplayer video games. Story-driven games are great (I'm not saying they are bad :3), but the high-stakes environment of multiplayer is where I belong.
